Meet Cassie
There’s 3 things that I love the most in this world; my Newfie pup, coffee, and doing hair for a living. On the weekends you can find me eating sushi, spending time unwinding, or FaceTiming my family at every chance I get. Growing up with naturally curly hair in a family of straight hair made for some crazy school pictures of brushed out curls in a high pony tail. It took me years to learn how to manage my twists and kinks, and I’m still learning! It wasn’t until I took the plunge into cosmetology school that I began to feel confident with what I had taught myself.
I didn’t go to cosmetology school right away. After graduating high school in Green Bay, Wisconsin I took the traditional route and went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I was two and a half years in, studying biochemistry, and desperately wishing I was doing what I was passionate for. Eventually I had a enough as well as a huge self realization; I took my semester finals, went home for Christmas, and told my entire family I was no longer going to be attending UW-Madison and starting that January I would be a new student at the Aveda Institute! I was filled with nothing but warmth and encouragement from everyone and that continues to this day.
I moved to Chicago when I got a job offer to be a Color Specialist post-graduation from the Aveda Institute. I spent time on Michigan Avenue mastering my craft and learning what I loved the most about color; blonde, balayage, color corrections, and creative color. But being in a departmentalized salon meant that I didn’t get to do the entire service from start to finish and I missed that connection that is built with a client when you spend that time with them. I found Salon Glow Chicago and it was everyone’s bio’s that made me feel like I needed to be apart of the team, and the beauty of the salon was just another perk of why I love it here so much!
Not only do I get to express my creativity through color daily, but I do extensions, keratin smoothing treatments, hair cutting, and bridal. I don’t even consider this to be “work” because all day I get the opportunity to give people a look that makes them more confident, beautiful, and all around better about themselves. What more could you ask for in a career? (Other than endless puppies)
